The Normcore WDT Tool V4 is a premium retractable espresso distribution tool designed to improve puck preparation, reduce clumping and promote more consistent espresso extraction. Featuring a convenient twist-to-retract mechanism and an adjustable needle configuration, it helps create a more evenly distributed coffee bed before tamping.

Freshly ground coffee can contain clumps and uneven density, potentially causing channeling and inconsistent extraction. Using the Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT), the Normcore V4 gently breaks up clumps and redistributes coffee grounds throughout the portafilter basket for improved extraction uniformity.

A simple 360° twist mechanism extends or retracts the needles, protecting them during storage while keeping your coffee preparation workflow clean and convenient.

The adjustable needle layout supports up to 14 stainless steel needles, allowing you to customise the distribution pattern to suit your preferred technique. Use fewer needles for gentle stirring or more needles for wider coverage.

Beyond espresso, the Normcore WDT V4 can also be used to gently break up dry coffee clumps and improve saturation during pour-over brewing.

It is particularly useful with zero-bypass brewers such as the Tricolate and Pulsar, where gentle stirring can help promote more even water distribution and extraction.

How to Use

1. Twist the body to extend the distribution needles.
2. Insert the needles into the coffee grounds.
3. Gently stir from the bottom of the basket upward to break up clumps.
4. Even out the surface before tamping.
5. Twist to retract the needles after use.
